Our founder, Marcin, has been keeping fish of all colours and varieties for most of his life, from classic tetras to rare and obscure South American catfish.
To him, fishkeeping is more than a source of entertainment but an opportunity to unwind after a long day at work. He has always found watching fish go about their own little worlds a uniquely relaxing and endlessly rewarding experience.
It was only in 2014 that he turned his interest into a business by launching Aquarium-Fish Ltd, and he has not looked back.
Our goal is to spread the word of tropical fishkeeping by making it affordable and accessible to everyone. Our customers include both newcomers to the hobby starting off with a few tetras to seasoned keepers looking for rare tropical fish in particular.
With customers all around the world, hundreds of 5-star Facebook and Google reviews to our name and having secured a distribution deal with the highest quality fish food supplier on the market, our enthusiasm for the hobby has never been stronger.

Guppies and tetras are the ideal fish for first-time owners. They are eye-catching yet hardy, with low space requirement and high tolerances, and are happy to co-exist with one another and most other small fish.
For nutritious yet affordable fish food with a great quality-to-cost ratio, look no further than Dr Bassleer. You can find a diverse range in our shop, with a wide assortment of flavours and granule sizes.
The short answer is yes, but there are lot of variables to consider. Different species have different size requirements and general behaviours, which need to be considered before you purchase them or pair them in the same tank. Guppies, rasboras and tetras are famously able to get along, but larger carnivorous species like cichlids will attack and even eat smaller fish. Different species may also have different pH and temperature requirements. Please ensure you research a species before you purchase. Alternatively, get in touch with us via a contact form and we will be happy to advise you.
This is up to your confidence and the space you have available. A general rule of thumb with smaller fish is 1 fish per gallon of water, and 1 fish per 3 gallons of water for later fish. Keep in mind, however, that there is a difference between a fish thriving and surviving – You could keep 3 tetras or 1 catfish in a small 3-gallon tank, but these will not be happy or well-stimulated fish.
Fish in smaller aquariums can do without them, but aquatic plants are an easy way to improve water quality. Most species of aquatic plant will reduce the spread of harmful tank bacteria by absorbing and recycling nutrients produced by fish waste. They also provide fish with a place to hide, which has been proven to reduce stress and improve their quality of life.
